Gallery 10: First Day Postal Covers
First Day Covers are postage stamps on covers, postcards, or stamped envelopes associated with the first day that the stamp was authorized for use. The envelopes of first day covers usually have additional artwork, some of which is produced using the woodblock printing technique. Frequently the artwork was designed by the artist of the stamp, but it can also be commissioned by a separate artist.
The Images are scenes from Japan’s National and Quasi-National parks which were printed in the 1950s and 1960s.
