Gallery 5A: Ikeda Shuzō

Ikeda Shuzō (1922-2004) became a full time artist after an initial nine-year career as an art teacher. He was a member of the artist association Nihon Hanga Kyokai. Shuzo’s works usually feature images of children with flowers, birds, insects, sacred stone images, and native dolls. His designs are distinctive in that they frequently integrate the texture of the woodblock grain into the design. Additional works by the artist can be seen in Gallery 12: Ex Libris.
